Casio Calculator watch

By admin on June 6th, 2008

casiowatch.jpgWhilst I do love all the watches we’ve featured on Brandish, they’re all a bit…serious. They all fit the bill when you’re trying to smarten up an outfit, but what about when you’re trying to loosen up a little? At times like this, it would be nice to contrast a smart-ish ensemble with a playful retro watch – like this Casio watch.

There’s lots of things to love about this watch. It’s cheap at £28, the rubber strap is more comfortable than a metal one and most importantly, it has a calculator. I can’t think of any time where I felt I’ve needed a calculator, but it’s nice to have the option.

Ted Baker shirt at Sarah Coggles

By ShinyMedia on May 16th, 2007

Sarah Coggles is a great store I’ve had the fortune to visit on family trips to York. It’s a wonder to go through their menswear which is more interesting than your average boutique. I like this Ted Baker shirt (£75) in a nice aqua-green; the pattern is retro without being kookily so and it nicely combines flowers with geometry. Use it to give a grey suit some personality, or wear with navy cords and Clarks shoes for a truly retro look.

Jarvis Cocker at Coachella

By ShinyMedia on May 8th, 2007

JarvisJarvis has moved on from his charity shop chic uniform of his Britpop years and has settled in nicely to a check shirt, jeans, buckle belt and corduroy jacket. It’s a bit hard to pull off a pervy schoolteacher look when you’re in your forties, and Jarvis’ new look suits his pared down music. Get your hands on a similar western-style shirt from Howies for £75, or from Plaid Pony Vintage for $28 where you can also pick up a vintage belt buckle for $24. Ballyhoo Vintage have got a great velvet jacket for $65 which will definitely give you the Jarvis look. See after the jump for product images.

J Lindeberg retro tank top

By Isabelle on April 13th, 2007

JlindjumpJ Lindeberg’s retro tank top is only for the brave, the retro fractal-like pattern is a bit garish especially in those minty fresh colours. Teamed with the right items though, and you could look great. You could take the jumper back to its golfing roots and opt for ironic retro insanity by teaming it with plaid grandad slacks, slip ons and a clashing plaid shirt. For a subtler look team with dark denim jeans and a pale grey shirt but either way the tank top is half price, making it a bit of a bargain.
