We looked at some wonderful summer jackets yesterday featuring labels like Rene Gurskov and Moncler but for the more budget conscious among you here is a pick of summer jackets from the high street.
At the high end of the market Dexter Wong‘s cropped trench for Topshop is £80 which gets you smart tailoring and an unconventional shape. Burton‘s coated jacket is reduced to £25 and has a wonderfully masculine silhouette. K-Ways were the in thing when I was at school, and they’re back with collaborations from A.P.C and Limoland. This classic version is just £45 and the punchy yellow will team up a treat with smart grey trousers. Even cheaper is Uniqlo‘s windbreaker with a neon lining, combining functionality with good looks it’s only £19.99

Looking for summer jackets might be slightly premature but it’s never too early to shop, and with a chunky jumper a lightweight waterproof layer will more than suffice for March.
These jackets are all fairly pricey, but would make fantastic investments if you have a bit of money burning a hole in your pocket. Rene Gurskov‘s bomber is in a simple colour but tailoring details like shrunken buttons and origami pocket flaps make it a bit more special. Paul Smith’s jacket is for the more formally inclined Brandites, the colour is simply awesome and will look wonderful with a summer palette. On the more utilitarian end of the scale Moncler‘s khaki jacket is so unassumingly stylish it will take you from office to pub to disco to wherever you kids hang out. Lastly Lyle and Scott‘s jacket is a classic shape and again a great colour, a perfect choice if you fancy something more conventional which retains a bit of interest.
See after the jump for product details and stick around to see our budget picks tomorrow!

Winter has crept up on us and while you can’t beat a classic pea coat there seems to be little else on offer on the high street.
A wool bomber jacket is a more modern looking shape and goes well with newer silhouettes like double pleat trousers and cuffed jeans. The wool fabric gives the shape a smarter and more structured look than its sporty counterparts and more importantly is a lot warmer. Take your pick from double and single-breasted, zip-up, vintage, retro and modern there’s a bomber for every taste and wallet.

As you can probably tell comments are down on Brandish, so when Nick emailed me asking about grey skinny jeans I clapped my hands together in excitement… A clothing hunt!
I went looking all over the internet for some grey skinny jeans with reasonable success. Hopefully there’s something here for you Nick and if anyone else wants me to don my web-hunting gear or just have a chat about clothes send me an email to isabelle [at] shinymedia.com.

Neat mod-ish tailoring and large retro buttons make for an appealing jacket which is neither fusty nor faddy. If you’ve already got a half dozen zip up nylon jackets and fancy something a little different and smarter then snap this Oliver Spencer jacket up from Sarah Coggles for the sale price of £117.50. The warm dove-tone is less harsh than a straight grey and the linen mix ramps up the formality a notch.

Sarah Coggles is a great store I’ve had the fortune to visit on family trips to York. It’s a wonder to go through their menswear which is more interesting than your average boutique. I like this Ted Baker shirt (£75) in a nice aqua-green; the pattern is retro without being kookily so and it nicely combines flowers with geometry. Use it to give a grey suit some personality, or wear with navy cords and Clarks shoes for a truly retro look.
