Several splashes of colour

By admin on June 13th, 2008

cosby.jpgI’ve gone on about the splash of colour trend in drips and draps for a good while now and I’ve finally found someone who likes it even more than I do. Men’s Vogue writer Amanda Brooks features a large selection of men past and present who have worked the colourful look. It even features a pre-ugly jumper Bill Cosby looking rather suave in a yellow turtleneck.

If you can’t be bothered to click that link, then I’ve featured my favourite looks after the jump.

The Pope loves a splash of colour

By admin on April 18th, 2008

popered.jpgLike any sane person, you probably haven’t paid any attention to the Pope’s US visit. Neither was I, until I saw picture of him in these magnificent red shoes. Apparently there is a long tradition of pope’s wearing red shoes, going back to the days of Roman emperors. But who cares about that? It’s the Pope! Wearing red shoes!

I’m actually 102% sure that the history story is just a ruse to put off the real story – the pope is a secret fashionista. He obviously loves the splash of colour look. I bet he accessorized with one of those red watches we’ve posted earlier. If he does wear red watches – a 5 month old cookie will be sent to the person who finds this out – then it will be a certified fact that the Pope reads Brandish.

Paul Smith boat trainers

By admin on April 3rd, 2008

If you like the nautical look but don’t
want to look like you’re in fancy dress, you may be reticent about buying boat
shoes. So why not go halfway and get these boat shoe inspired Paul
Smith trainers
?

The perfect blend of canvas trainer and
boat shoe, this is for someone who loves the idea of boat shoes but hates
tassels. They’d also match perfectly with that John Smedley
polo
and those Topman shorts.
The multicoloured laces would provide a welcome break from the blue and white
colours and could act as a sly splash of colour in any outfit. These are
available from Coggles.com and cost £70.

Metallic Silver Springcourts

By admin on March 26th, 2008

The whole metallic thing never really took off – mainly because most people didn’t want to look like an extra from a Kraftwerk video. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t some great metallic pieces to be found, like these metallic
silver Springcourts
.

Remember when we said that Springcourt trainers were the most comfortable trainers in the world?
That’s still true. The silver colouring means that these could also function as
a splash of colour in an outfit. So for 110 Euros, you’ve got the most comfortable
trainers in the world in metallic silver. What more could you want?

Accessories

Paul Smith Belt

By admin on March 6th, 2008

Ps_belt If you’ve seen it go wrong, you might be reticent
about the splash of colour trend. I mean, a splash is fine, but too much
splashing can create a jarring effect. Seeing as accessories are the best way
to add colour to an outfit, why not start with this sky
blue Paul Smith belt
?

The great thing about the belt is that it’s
not meant to match. You don’t have to wear a matching sky blue watch and bag in
order to pull the look off, just have co-ordinating colours that draw attention to
the vibrant belt. The belt is available from the Paul Smith website for £75.
