Cassette Playa’s Carri Munden on the Nike collab

By Jonathan Smith on December 11th, 2008

Cassette Playa X Nike Blazer from Amazing Grace on Vimeo.

Day glo maniacs Cassette Playa have got together with sports brand and street fashion monoliths Nike to bring you a special edition Nike Blazer. In Cassette Playa’s typically painful colours these sneakers were first seen as part of Carri Munden’s Spring/Summer 2008 “Future Primitive” runway show earlier this year but will now be made available from Nike Sportswear 1948 store at Bateman’s Row, Shoreditch as well as other select Nike retailers. For those uninterested in the shoe itself perhaps the video above may pique your interest; Carri Munden talks about her brand (Cassette Playa- doye!) and her upcoming collaboration- if you can spare 1 minute 54 seconds it’s worth a peek.

Nom De Guerre go grey for spring

By admin on February 18th, 2008

(Click on the image for full-sized picture)

While most spring/summer ranges embrace
bright colours, Nom De Guerre have
decided to go all neutral. Using a muted palette much more suited to winter, it’s
a look that works because it shouldn’t. Grey isn’t a colour you associate with spring
and because of this, the contrast would be all the more striking.

Personally, I’m still not sold on shorts on
men, Most men have legs that should be covered at all times. To Nom De Guerre’s credit, they make it look wearable, which is no mean feat. They’re also (probably)the
only label who haven’t adopted roll ups for their trousers, which shows a nice
streak of nonconformity. Their new range should be available when their online store opens. For now, you
can watch ‘Der Hamster’ instead.

A.P.C go all nautical

By admin on January 31st, 2008

When stylists create looks, they often make
un-wearable pieces workable. This trick of the eye usually leads to a
collection full of underwhelming individual pieces and great looks. A.P.C avoid
this problem with their nautical-themed S/S 2008 collection. As well as having
eye catching overall looks, the collections also full of wearable individual
pieces. The pick of the bunch is this leather
strapped weekend bag

If bags screamed, this would yell “Match me
with anything Brown or Blue!! I’m versatile!! Don’t forget to wear brown shoes!
Or blue! Don’t forget, I’m versatile!” In case you were wondering, the bag
would yell every statement because it was excited. I mean, it is the first bag
to ever speak, at least to my incredible knowledge. The bag costs £105 and is
available from A.P.C’s website.
