Readers send in their YMC snakeskin deck shoe pics

By admin on April 23rd, 2009

Mark Quinn Baluba ymc snakeskin deck shoes.jpg

Colin featured the YMC snakeskin deck shoes back in February and they’ve proved pretty popular with our readers. Mark Quinn from Baluba is quite the clothes horse, and he started off the trend by sending us a picture of his YMCs, (love to see the rest of the jeans!) Daniel Jenkins, from the Monmouth store Daniel Jenkins sent us an amazing picture featuring him wearing the shoes, and sporting what is possibly the best facial expression ever.

Daniel says: “My girlfriend has look of regret each time I wear them out with her because we always get stopped about them. A busload of Japanese tourists stopped on Mile End road to take photos of me in them.”

Jump through to see Daniel’s picture, and if you’ve bought anything featured on Brandish email it to isabelle@shinymedia.com.

Garbstore, our new labelcrush

By admin on April 9th, 2009

garb store cardigan locker warden jacket.jpg

At the Store press day recently I came across an unfamiliar brand, Garbstore. Their ethos is ‘unfamiliar vintage’ and it fits right in with What We Like on Brandish as well as being bang on trend with the workwear feel. Garbstore have a store in Portobello which stocks labels like Bedwin and Rittenhouse as well as their own label.

Some typical picks from their store includes the ’50s Locker Cardigan with chenille patch, (£125) and their Warden coat, (£150) based on a 1956 design from the north of England. I have a feeling this is just the start of a long love affair, so expect to see a lot more of Garbstore on the site!

New Bape store coming to London, did you know?

By Jonathan Smith on August 13th, 2008

bapestore.jpgI found out about this a few months ago from a PR, so naturally assumed everybody knew about it. I think I may have been wrong as I cant find any details about it on the information super highway, except for this post on nylonmag.com.

According to nylonmag.com the new store will be bigger and better than the current London store, taking inspiration from the Tokyo mega-store which along with a massive range of A Bathing Ape apparel has a cafe, art gallery and hair salon. The store is scheduled to open in 2009 so you’ll have to wait a while to get a purple camo burger, but it does sound really cool even if you’re not keen on the Ape.

I’ll keep you posted with any more information I can glean, perhaps from the horses mouth: get me a phone and the number of A Bathing Ape’s PR, I’m getting some answers!

WISHLIST: CA4LA Trilby

By Will Reid on May 28th, 2008

trilby3.jpgThis week I happen to be in the rather happening city of Mumbai. This former Bombay is, according to US Vogue, the new “It-City” but after landing yesterday I must admit that the gruelling heat wave soon quashed my hopes of glamour and a jet-set style wardrobe. In my stone grey Topman shorts, white belt, Karate Kid t-shirt and flip-flops I realised I was missing something and as soon as I stepped into the light of Indian sun I realised that what I needed was a hat. In my opinion, the trilby is a classic ruined by our own style icons but Browns is trying to change this and the CA4LA collection they have started to stock has a great variety of classic hats with a modern twist. My fave is this hat above with blue brim, white trim and black crown. With badge and feather included, what’s to stop you from pulling a Geldof and strutting out of airport lounges stealing bottles of wine (that’s an actual observation.)

Trilby, £135, Browns

Stand alone Marc by Marc store to open in London next year

By admin on April 17th, 2008

mbm.jpgRejoice! Everyone’s favourite diffusion line is about to set up fully-owned shop in Europe this year, reaching the UK in early 2009.

Boosted by a 30% year-on-year rise in US revenue, M.b.M. is looking across the Atlantic to Paris and a spot on Place Marché Saint Honoré (conveniently near Collette). Both a women’s and men’s shop will be opening up in the same area, spanning a total of 2,100 sq. ft.

The London store will debut in early 2009, across the road from the existing Marc Jacobs boutique in Mayfair, at 56 South Audley Street.

“Europe is such a different market, but Marc by Marc Jacobs’ sales per square meter is higher than any other retail store in the word, so we’re confident,” says Marc Jacobs president Robert Duffy.
