Would you wear a congruent tie?

By admin on May 27th, 2009

congruent tie eric glennie.jpg

The internet is aflame smouldering with news of the congruent tie. It’s a tie which is made so that the stripes on the knot and the rest of the tie match up.

It’s a godsend for anal types but I’m not sure that anyone else would really notice? It also seems like the change in direction of fabric removes any of the satisfying dimpling and folding which makes tie-knotting such a dark art. Eric Glennie have a whole range of congruent ties in various stripes and they also have a really cool silk neck chain.

We want to know what tie-supremo Alexander Olch would make of these ties, in the meantime why don’t you give us your tuppence worth by taking our poll below:

A.P.C stripe jumper from Start

By admin on September 24th, 2008

apc stripe jumper knit start nautical.jpgStripes are a bit overexposed in menswear generally but A.P.C’s knit jumper still feels fresh.
The classic nautical style looks less gimmicky in grey and oatmeal and the stripes are just the right width.

The four-button sweater is available from Start for £239, they recommend wearing it with a suit jacket (two buttons done up) which is a handy bit of advice. I’d team it with faded grey jeans, a pale cloth scarf and a pair of white canvas pumps but I’m boring like that!

John Smedley jumper

By ShinyMedia on April 25th, 2007

John_smedFine knit jumpers are great for layering and much smarter than a hoodie, and very useful this time of year. John Smedley is perhaps the king of men’s knitwear, producing quality pieces that will last for years. This subtly striped Lambeth jumper in Waterloo colour combo is 100% cotton which will keep you cool and features a flattering v-neck. It will set you back £114, but quality doesn’t come cheap; this is a cassic piece well worth the investment.
