Fashionista has been sent a pic of one reader’s wardrobe (above)- her shoeboxes are transparent, her clothes are colour-coordinated, everything is obsessively neat and you can only imagine she has an itsy-bit too much time on her hands. Brandish Editor Isabelle has opened up her wardrobe for a new Catwalk Queen feature and it’s certainly isn’t that meticulous!
So, while my wardrobe is most definitely not as organised as the Fashionista reader (I keep all my clothes in drawers and after too long away from home have a habit of living out of a suitcase,) we at Brandish want to know how tidy your wardrobe/closet/clothes space is?

Just two weeks ago, Brandish reviewed the first edition of the Sunday Times Style Magazine’s ‘Mr Mills’ menswear and style column. I decided that Mills needed to brighten up a bit and make the column a little more cheery and summer-inclined if he was to hold the attention of readers. Well, call me egotistical, but is it pure coincidence that the latest edition of the column featured pieces on swim trunks, sunglasses, lime green hair oil and bright-coloured ties?
Jason also picked up on the possible influence of Brandish yesterday with a post on Taz of Sa-Ra. We’re not serious of course, but Mr Mills does look set to be a great read.

5. Justin Lee Collins
Will Reid: Although Justin may be prone to a too-tight t-shirt, The Friday/Sunday Night Project presenter’s sheer charisma and the fact that those tight tees usually bear a cult band logo mean he’s earned his place on this list. With his faded flares and large Aviators Justin has made many a Friday night worth staying in for, and if he gets his shaggy-yet-manicured locks cut, I for one will weep.

For this season, the genius designer Stefano Pilati has decided to preview the label’s menswear collection in the form of seven incredibly arty mini-films. The first, called ‘Figures Entwining’, has an undeniable beauty and fragility, but I have to admit that I was a little freaked out by the androgynous and almost child-like models.

Thom Browne and Tom Ford are without a doubt two of Brandish’s favourite designers and so imagine my surprise when I got e-mailed this article from the New York Times. It compares the work of both men and includes such literary gems as “the Tom Ford man is an Anglicized gloss on Hollywood style, while Thom Browne’s designs evoke the hipness of eternal adolescence” and Tom Ford’s brilliant definition of masculininty; “to be masculine is to fuse the debonair cut of a Savile Row suit with the swagger of a star from 1970s pornography.”

I am mentally planning each and every one of my outfits for next week because Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist is coming to London for the first time. He apparently thinks it is already summer in London, better check Accuweather Scott!
He announced the news on his blog yesterday, saying: “I can’t wait to shoot some of the famous London Sun Bunnies! or at least run into some of the Top Gear guys.”
Thank God he was joking, can you imagine an image of Jeremy Clarkson on The Sartorialist? It would be enough to commit fashion hari-kiri.

While
Richard reported only two weeks ago of Tokyo’s willingness to queue for Bape goods, the label managed a slightly more A-list attendance for their LA store opening. Forget members of the public and imagine more the likes of Mike Tyson, Nicole Richie and Japanese fashion-darling artist Takashi Murakami. There was no M&S mob or Primark-passionates but only those able to afford the “diamond-encrusted A Bathing Ape Casio watch customized by Jacob the Jeweler” (*cough cough* Pharrell.) The store opened on Wednesday night in West Hollywood and looks set to only expand the brand beloved of fashion-followers everywhere.

GQ have once again voted Daniel Craig as their best-dressed man, the bond star pipped Noel Fielding to the post who came second thanks to GQ tell us, ‘mainly the female vote’. The pint-sized comedy pixie is known for his dandy dress sense and has admitted to getting his accessories in Topshop.
There Will Be Blood Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis came third in the poll and the lovely Giles Deacon was bringing up the rear at number 19, see after the jump for the full list.

There is so much style to wade through after show season that we’re all wasting our free-time on style.com. While looking at the detail shots of the site’s Bottega Veneta coverage, I spotted this interesting neck detail on a few of the models. There is the embarrassing chance that a few of the models simply weren’t able to put on a tie (forgive the bitchiness but you know the type) however if that were the case I would still be praising the DIY fashion brilliance.
The collection itself was aimed to provide a male uniform and the collection was very straight-laced, but this detail added a great edge. I think this may be something I try out myself as it completely elevates the look. Safety pin ties- what a brilliant idea and unexpected cause of sartorial envy.

Since the beginning of time, life, and our own existence, man has been fascinated with choice. From peace protests to monumental civil rights movements, we have always had a taste for the mish-mash aspect of life. This obsession with accessibility has been translated onto the season’s catwalks, designers showed a mixture of fabrics and styles to form a collage of culture and a sartorial storyboard of their travels.
From Dries Van Noten to Miu Miu, this was a look that designers embraced and with its increasing popularity among the fash-pack it is one that I’m sure will make a splash in the coming months.

I know that it is an obvious choice and not avant-garde in the slightest, but The Sartorialist is one of those gems that just makes you smile. Increasingly, Scott (Mr. Sartorialist himself) Schuman is incorporating more and more menswear into his revolutionary blogging venture. The photos within this post (all property of The Sartorialist) are just a few of Scott’s archive of great shots. Street-style is a major influence within the fashion world right now and everyone from Henry Holland to Ricardo Tisci at Givenchy are taking inspiration from the World’s various street-walkers (no naughtiness there.) Also, despite the location of these shots usually being fashion shows and parties, most of the looks are wearable and Scott makes sure to interview his subjects, getting information on suit sources and blazer bargains. Take a look for yourself and help me spread the fashion virus throughout the Globe (God knows some people need it.)

In a recent post for the New York Times David Colman gets all excited about conservative style. He’s not talking about Webcameron’s boxers, but how the big menswear movers and shakers take a pared down approach to their dress: “The simpler the better,” said Tommy Fazio, the men’s fashion director at Bergdorf Goodman. “I basically wear navy and gray, so everything is interchangeable. If you think about your closet, there are 10 things you always wear. So you pack those things, some basics to go with, and you can travel for two weeks.”

We are into the New Year and that fatal mixture of speed shopping and Christmas parties spent feeling old and alone has left you feeling in need of an image rehaul.
Cue Dylan Jones’ new read. With Mr. Jones being editor of GQ magazine, you would be forgiven for thinking this was simply a style guide but the book works as more of a lifestyle crash course, covering topics from Etiquette & Decorum to Elbow Grease & Skyhooks. This book is straight-talking, relatable and lacks the camped-up bravado of style guides, such as Off the Cuff by Carson Kressley, which can leave the reader feeling completely alienated and a bit out of the fashion circuit when told to buy a "pornographically hot cashmere sweater."
