Grenson at The Andaz: more shoe heaven

Despite its proximity East London’s trendy epicentre, Liverpool Street isn’t exactly known for great fashion shopping. But the Grenson shoe store, part of The Andaz (formerly The Great Eastern Hotel) is slap, bang next to Liverpool Street station and is definitely something to write home about.

The traditional Northamptonshire-based firm of shoemakers has struck gold with the recentish return to traditional shoe styles such as brogues and classic Oxfords. Though passing trends are unlikely to be a concern for a company with such heritage. On the page the shoes may not look like too exciting a prospect but I can confirm that in the flesh the sheer quality of the leather and lovely colours are a feast for the eyes and would make great sense as part of a collection by such as Dries Van Noten. Of course, quality doesn’t come cheap (expect prices around £180 per pair) but the quality here justifies that, especially as those prices would be doubled were they to be designer co-branded.
