The Antony Price collection (click here to see the gallery) made its Topman debut on Friday and although I haven’t been instore yet I’m keen to see how it’s selling.
There’s a good selection of quality suiting and some quirky accessories like the eye print tie and the purple bow tie which will lend a little character to your outfit without quite being on the Tazmanian Devil/Homer Simpson novelty sock level of kook.

Cardigans are ten a penny on the high street, if you want to keep your look interesting a shawl collar is a subtle detail which will add a little curiosity to your outfit.
Topman‘s red double breasted knit (£40) is a retro style which looks contemporary and smart teamed with office trousers and lace ups. Avoid wearing it with cord trousers, otherwise you’re in danger of straying into Val Doonican territory, and what with us being so close to Christmas that is a scary domain to slip into. Neat indigo denim and slim-cut pressed trousers will get the best out of this cosy cardigan.

More winter style solutions, this time with our definitive pick of winter scarves. A scarf is a great chance to add a splash of colour, pattern or texture to your outfit so be brave and pick something bold!
From left: University scarves are a great find on eBay, Paul Smith does a luxe silk-lined version for £110. Chunky scarves with the right amount of texture are hard to come by on the high street but Topman have a good selection, this teal offering is £12.

Winter has crept up on us and while you can’t beat a classic pea coat there seems to be little else on offer on the high street.
A wool bomber jacket is a more modern looking shape and goes well with newer silhouettes like double pleat trousers and cuffed jeans. The wool fabric gives the shape a smarter and more structured look than its sporty counterparts and more importantly is a lot warmer. Take your pick from double and single-breasted, zip-up, vintage, retro and modern there’s a bomber for every taste and wallet.

This gallery showcases some of the hottest street style looks I’ve seen in quite a while. Granted, some of the photography is a bit shifty (and the background of sun-washed Camden during the summer is enough to provoke resentment from most Brits,) but these looks are on-trend and rival a lot of professionally styled magazine editorials.
Brandish loves street style and there will definitely be more to come in the next few months. Just prepare for rain drops on the camera lens.

Check has undeniable appeal but right now it’s a little overexposed so stick to something with a little more longevity. Make like James Franco and go for gingham, it’s a little more dressed up than indie plaid and has classic appeal. Trust Franco, he appeared on the cover of the last issue of Man About Town; although I’m not so sure I’d follow his footwear having seen long shoes in this picture.

As usual Will is on the money with his trapper hat outfit pick, but here are a few more to choose from for this winter.
Topman‘s version will give you that lumberjack look, while Paul Smith‘s luxe offering is perfect as part of a nouveau grunge outfit. John Rocha‘s corduroy trapper will keep you cosy and warm until first thaw, or until you get on the tube. Whichever comes first..

It’s sale time again and there are plenty of bargains to be had at Topman. Their straight cut grey trousers are a cheap office staple and the graph paper check of the nylon jacket is lots of fun.
For something a little more grown up the navy suede ankle boots look far more expensive than their price suggests, just make sure to arm yourself with some suede protector for rainy days. Finally the shawl collar is big news this autumn, and livens up the commonplace cardigan.

If you’re going to go for this season’s lumberjack trend you may as well jump right in and go for Topshop’s flannel plaid jacket (£60).
It’s lined in faux sheep which means it’ll be wonderfully cosy for the winter and will add bulk to your silhouette in a satisfying way, overly skinny is out now dontcha know? You could play it safe and team it with jeans but why not go for something different and wear the jacket with cuffed chinos and geeky Doc Marten style lace up shoes. Add some contrasting socks and it’ll set you apart from the swathes of men in check.

I’m currently sitting in a small room in India with a fan spinning in an attempt to cool me down and a mosquito net blanketing the balcony door. I have to admit it’s pretty hard to imagine wearing trench coats right now. But, I’m a proud Brit and nothing is going to get in the way of my winter-wardrobe appreciation.
This Outfit Pick shows you how to rock a modern, edgy winter look that will have you feeling protected and warm but not boring and hoping no-one spots you in your M&S beanie.
The trench adds a sharp shot of buzzing colour and the t-shirt and boots add an urban gypsy vibe that’s very on-trend. The umbrella…well, that’s just for fun.

I have to admit that despite being a lover of high-fashion millinery from the likes of Stephen Jones and Philip Treacy, I just can’t wear hats. They look truly horrific on me.
But the whole Brandish team is currently infatuated with an item that looks set to take off in the coming months (of snow and cold.) That item is the Trapper Hat.
In this week’s Outfit Pick, I’ve added a few eccentric pieces to a Topman Trapper hat and created a look that anyone could pull of by balancing the quirky tweed bag and dancing brogues with a classic beige trench also from Topman.

Antony Price worked for Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music in the ’80s as a stylist and was responsible for the Lou Reed ‘Transformer’ album cover. Pivotal in forming the louche, ultra sexy look that defined that period Price has also collaborated with David Bowie and Duran Duran. He currently works on made-to-measure as well as Daphne Guinness’ line of shirts.
His latest project is the ‘Priceless’ range for Topman, consisting of suits, overcoats and shirts. The emphasis is on tailoring and quality, which is reflected in the prices (£50 to £180 for a suit). The collection debuts on November 3rd, and it will be available from the London flagship store as well as online.

American Apparel, the brand synonymous with androgyny and men in skintight jeans, has just launched their Unisex Oxford Shirt. I have three sisters and I’m no stranger to borrowing the odd jumper (actually, that would be reclaiming,) and I have in past borrowed Ralph Lauren shirts and vintage blazers for a better fit and a slimmer silhouette. Russell Brand, a man who walks on to a talk-show in a jersey tunic dress and girl’s jeans from Topshop but still manages to be a sex god, would be a great example of unisex dressing at its best but what do you think? Is it worth the sartorial risk when you might see a girl in the same tee as you?
Would you go Unisex- vote in our poll after the jump!

With a new of series of Heroes about to begin, the unfortunate death of Yves Saint Laurent and the number of Clark Kent-y characters about in the most recent blockbusters, my style radar is tuned to the male who’s gauche, awkward and geeky in the best way possible. Think of 1970s art students carrying open sketchbooks around Paris, Isaac Mendez of Heroes lounging around his studio in over-sized chinos and Marc Jacobs around his grunge era (which means big glasses, baggy jumpers and lots of corduroy.) I took a risk with mixing the denim shirt with dark jeans but the two items together are a wearable look that anyone can pull off.
Check out the product details after the jump and see how geeky you can get this winter- Argyle jumper anyone?

Clothing, Outfit picks, Suits & Tailoring

Just last week, Brandish editor Isabelle asked the general fashion public if the waistcoat could ever be worn well. We were subjected to the torture of Boyzone (whose waistcoat crimes can also be seen here,) and then buttered up with stories of white waffle and petrol blue. Now, I’ve created an outfit out of an All Saints waistcoat and looked to Frank Sinatra for tailoring inspiration.
