I don’t understand it myself but ultra long shoes seem to be all the rage at the moment. I hate them, I think they look awful, kind of like the men’s equivalent of the ultra pointed heels that were around for women a couple of years ago. I much prefer the round toed lace-ups I wrote about a couple of days ago. Tell us what you think and leave comments, full product links after the jump.

The rise of the cardigan has surely sounded the death knell for the blazer and jeans look. A few years ago a blazer looked edgy but it’s now only worn by sloaney types, especially with distressed and ripped bootcut jeans, which surely are a confection of the devil. The cardigan offers a much leaner, modern silhouette; it’s a natural partner for skinny or slim jeans and can be dressed up with smart trousers and a slim tie. Simon Amstell does this look perfectly, teaming a dark cardie with a
floral shirt, or choosing various tones of khaki and olive green for an
eye-pleasing cardigan, tie and shirt combo. I’ve come up with two cardigan outfits so if you are one of the few people who haven’t purchased a cardigan there won’t be any excuse not to. See after the jump for images and product links.
Topman have got a sale on, and even though you’ll usually find me in Topshop looking at the dresses and shoes I ventured downstairs and picked up a lovely shirt for a mere tenner. Steer clear of the trucker caps and rock dude belts and you won’t go far wrong. Take this black gingham shirt, reduced to £15 it’s a great fit thanks to their new slim sizing. Another good pick is their navy bomber reduced to £20, navy is a great colour for summer, especially teamed with brown and fawn colours.
I mentioned yesterday that knee high shorts aren’t easy to carry off, but it’s a bit of a dilemma because purely from a fashion (rather than comfort) perspective 3/4 length trousers are looking a bit dated. I’ve picked out an outfit based around a pair of navy tailored shorts from Topman trying to keep it looking quite casual; keeping all the other items in an outfit low key and in a neutral colour palette is a good way of trying out new trends. Get yourself down to Topshop this weekend because it’s cold outside and you need to look chic so look no further than their St Germain striped green and black cardigan (£35). Somehow the combination of minty green and black give such an air of aloofness that even if you decided to pair it with men’s leggings you’d give off icy cool vibes. See after the jump to find out what I’d wear it with.
