These Puma hi-tops come in such a suave colour, you could get away with wearing them to a wedding or other such formal do. They are the essence of smooth, I can imagine the wearer having highly moisturised skin and the smoothest shave since big school. Be all trendy and wear them with shorts in a similar tone, with this colour you could get away with a flash of fluoro pink on your t-shirt or sunglasses. They’re $120 from Situation Normal who cherry pick the fanciest trainers, clothing and accessories
for you.

Just in case you didn’t know here’s a little reminder: metallics are way in this summer. From Comme des Garcons’ gold saturated show, to Preston Ordinary Boys’ strop on Never Mind The Buzzcocks in a silver sequinned Burberry cardigan metallics are everywhere. If you feel like incorporating a little glitz into your wardrobe these gold trainers from Shellys (£70) are perfect, the slightly burnished colour makes them a lot more wearable than yellowish golds and they look very discreet when teamed with jeans.

The wonderful Manolo posted about these transformer trainers today that Japanese company Takara are making. They go from miniature trainers complete with laces to fantastic toy robots, but I don’t think you can wear them! You can get Convoy, above, or the evil Megatron (see after the jump) or both if you want to do robo-battle. It’s available from May for about $30, and you can pay an extra few bucks to make sure the boxes arrive in pristine condition for all you collecting freaks out there.

Nike have released a ‘Fallen Hero’ range of sneakers in which they pay homage to one hit wonder Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli who were exposed as fakes then either Milli or Vanilli killed himself, and Pee Wee Herman who found out that masturbating in a porn cinema is not compatible with being a children’s presenter. Click on the thumbnail to see the disturbing insole in Pee Wee’s trademark grey and red colours showing a figure, sitting alone in a cinema, hand on ‘lap’ and click the link to see a picture of the Vanilla Ice shoe.

Japanese designer Yasuhiro Mihara’s latest collaboration with Puma throws up some pretty interesting things. Psychedelic patterns, gold leather, studs and rivet details gives your everyday sneaks an out-of-the-ordinary touch. Mihara also has his own shop in Japan, called Sosu (prime number) selling men’s and women’s clothing and accessories. My favourites from the Puma collection are the reptilian MY-25, they’ve got a fetishy touch but are kind of geeky at the same time. Fetish-geek, now there’s a new look!
