As usual Will is on the money with his trapper hat outfit pick, but here are a few more to choose from for this winter.
Topman‘s version will give you that lumberjack look, while Paul Smith‘s luxe offering is perfect as part of a nouveau grunge outfit. John Rocha‘s corduroy trapper will keep you cosy and warm until first thaw, or until you get on the tube. Whichever comes first..

I have to admit that despite being a lover of high-fashion millinery from the likes of Stephen Jones and Philip Treacy, I just can’t wear hats. They look truly horrific on me.
But the whole Brandish team is currently infatuated with an item that looks set to take off in the coming months (of snow and cold.) That item is the Trapper Hat.
In this week’s Outfit Pick, I’ve added a few eccentric pieces to a Topman Trapper hat and created a look that anyone could pull of by balancing the quirky tweed bag and dancing brogues with a classic beige trench also from Topman.

Mark Ronson has always been a tiptop fashion star and this year has been awash with his sartorial influence. From the stripes and Mod look of early 2008 to the sharp tailoring in kooky fabrics. From the ’50s rock-star (read: Elvis) to the fur-clad aristo-geek.
Now, Ronson is taking it upon himself to lead the way with the trapper-hat wearer, ‘Lightspeed Champion,’ look as first established by our (soon to depart-) Jason Dike. Mark looked great at Vivienne Westwood’s after-show party last night with his fur-lined coat, oversized glasses and slick boots.

It’s time for us all to start dressing like Lightspeed Champion. Seriously. Take a look at any highstreet store and you’re bound to see a mixture of chunky cardigans, clear lens glasses and trapper hats. Add these together and you have Lightspeed Champion’s look. Out of these three defining pieces, the trapper hat is the one that looks to make a big comeback.
As usual, Topman are quickest off the mark, covering all bases of the trapper hat from (fake) fur hats to Number Nine-like knitted ones. ASOS are also stocking up on trapper hats, with three currently in stock; even River Island’s online store – usually pretty threadbare – has a trapper hat available. [You can check these hats for yourself after the jump]
Given that it’s only the start of September, it’s fair to say that this will be a key headpiece for this season. The only question is whether Lightspeed Champion will carry on wearing them when he sees so many people copying his style.
