Love the Look: Pastel knit scarf

By admin on April 27th, 2009

love the look hel ville.jpg

Ville, snapped by the Hel Looks team, has a stylish, easygoing look we love. A pair of skinny jeans and white hi-tops make up quite a basic outfit, but the addition of a pastel knit scarf gives the ensemble a feminine slant and is perfect for spring.
The grey trench adds to the delicate feel and the slouchy shape contrasts nicely with the slim silhouette.

Yay or Nay: The Return of THAT Print?

By Will Reid on January 19th, 2009

burberry.jpgThe Burberry Prorsum A/W 2009 show has been going down a storm on the Internet with buyers and fashion critics air-kissing in delighted agreement as they plan their wardrobes for seasons to come (guilty as charged.) Apart from the amazing padded jackets and sharp tailoring, one of the things that has most caught my attention is the subtle return of the infamous check print. The beige tartan-esque print has, in recent years, become a taboo of the fashion industry but designer Christopher Bailey appears to have decided that the time has come for a major return.

What do you think- are you ready to show-off the check print? Vote in our poll after the jump!

Outfit Pick: Trapper Hat Hot

By Will Reid on October 3rd, 2008

outfitpick4.jpgI have to admit that despite being a lover of high-fashion millinery from the likes of Stephen Jones and Philip Treacy, I just can’t wear hats. They look truly horrific on me.

But the whole Brandish team is currently infatuated with an item that looks set to take off in the coming months (of snow and cold.) That item is the Trapper Hat.

In this week’s Outfit Pick, I’ve added a few eccentric pieces to a Topman Trapper hat and created a look that anyone could pull of by balancing the quirky tweed bag and dancing brogues with a classic beige trench also from Topman.

Are items you want to see included in a Brandish Outfit Pick? E-mail: isabelle@shinymedia.com!

Product details after the jump…

B Store Bear Trench Coat

By admin on June 6th, 2008

summer trench coat.jpgTrench coats aren’t hard to come by nowadays but relaxed trenches are another story. You may have been swayed the Phillip Lim trench we featured – until you saw the price. Don’t worry, This B Store trench is more affordable and, dare I say it, better quality.

The lightweight material and roll up sleeves make this a perfect summer item. The fact that its £199 -instead of Phillip Lim’s sale price of £337 – is merely a bonus. It would match well with a nautical look and suits those long days when you need a versatile jacket.

Reiss Sky Blue Trench Coat

By admin on March 31st, 2008

reissskyblue.jpg

Why do writers (myself included) challenge
your masculinity every time something like sheer shorts are on the runway? It’s
always ‘go on if you dare, if you think you’re man enough’ ad nauseam (I’ve
done this many a time, so I’m just as guilty as anyone else).  The reason this occurred to me is because I
was tempted to follow a similar theme with this Reiss
trench coat
.

But it’s not really a test of your
masculinity to wear a sky blue piece. People wear sky blue shirts and cardigans
all the time, so why not coats? The real test would be if you wanted to pay
£265 for an item that has a bit of a limited shelf life.

All Saints macintosh

By admin on February 28th, 2008

Allsaintsjacket

The humble macintosh or trench, as you will be well aware, has been “in” lately. It’s been hot, sexy, now now now! Not quite wanting to let go as we move towards Spring, All Saints have released this cropped version – all the detailing’s there but without the long skirt. And you don’t miss that extra fabric do you?

It’s surprisingly well made. I popped in and ran a critical finger over the seams and was impressed. I do think it’s a bit expensive at £195 but that’s my only reservation.
