Steve Jones was seen on Monday with rumoured new girlfriend Fearne Cotton. A stylish, undoubtedly TV-friendly pair, I have to admit that I actually think Steve is better dressed on this particular date.
Let’s start with the leather jacket- this staple item is unexpectedly hard to pull off (without looking like a T-Bird; never a good look.) Jones’ version is masculine yet still on trend and the slim-fit detail means that your swagger won’t be shapeless. The white canvas brogues are a perfect summer piece and can be worn on holiday with a pair of shorts or actually in the UK with jeans, as seen here. Add black Wayfarer-style glasses and run the risk of looking like a trend-victim or try a non-Ray Ban style and be all-out original, fashion quirkiness will get you a Brandish A-Grade.

I’m not really a golfer and so I can’t claim any deep knowledge/love/appreciation of golf. I can however show knowledge/love/appreciation of knit V-necks with funky patterns and an equally passionate knowledge/love/appreciation of the new “Tiger Woods/Masters Edition” Nike Blazer Hi Premium.
Kix and the City reports that “to pay tribute to Tiger’s dominance at the Masters, Nike is set to release the “Tiger Woods/Masters Edition” Nike Blazer Premium Hi. The “Tiger/Masters” Nike Blazer Hi features a White/Black Leather upper with a faux Tiger hair Swoosh, a Masters-like logo at the heel tab, and a Green Hoody, symbolic of the Master’s trademark Green Jacket, on the tongue.”
For more images of this brilliant shoe check out Kix and the City.

The Independent are talking about global hipsters and the dissolution of traditional trends, name-dropping the usual suspects like Ryan McGinley and Nathan Barley. They call the Truman Brewery “a microcosm of an international phenomenon” which is kind of depressing but overall it’s an interesting article, describing the change in trend adoption from a vertical or trickle down movement to a lateral one largely thanks to the internet.
It’s a mostly upbeat article but it does slag off Uniqlo‘s pre-trendification era saying it was thought of as “a cheap and nasty Asian C&A equivalent” in 2004. Err, by whom?! Certainly not yours truly. Anyway if that’s all a little too fluffy read this Adbusters article on Hipsterism where Douglas Haddow calls it the ‘Dead End of Western Civilization’.

It’s been noted for a while that the time between trends translating from runway to high street is shortening. Now Bono is the first man to jump on the medge bandwagon.
I have to say I admire his chutzpah. He obviously looked at his wife and thought ‘there’s no way you’re gonna look taller than me today’. He’s simultaneously managed to display insecurity, egotism and competitiveness, no mean feat.

Way back when (honestly Cristiano,) at the peak of the short-shorts trend, Brandish was rife with talk of Wham!, a model short-shorts wearer and metallic fabric. In an awfully weird way, Cristiano Ronaldo looks like a mixture of about three weeks worth of posts.
In case you haven’t already been blinded my that horrific pic to the left, I’m talking about this week’s latest fashion crime: those tight, silver short-shorts. Ronaldo was snapped while shopping at the Christian Audigier boutique in Beverly Hills, perfectly tangoed and crutch-ridden. Unlike that signature white suit, I can’t even bring myself to jokily utter that infamous question- Yay or Nay?

Big Brother’s Little Brother (BBLB) presenters have a tradition for being rather cool fellows and after the likes of Dermot O’Leary and Russell Brand, George Lamb is the latest man to be lighting our screens with his look. Take a look at the screencap (left) from a recent episode of BBLB; the cropped and turned up trousers, the worn-in brogues, the grey (still a key colour) and the Alber Elbaz-inspired bow-tie.
Topped off by the same messy but manicured hair that catapulted the likes of Bob Geldof to style icon status, Lamb has the foundations of an up ‘n’ coming sartorial institution.

I was recently watching Bruce Almighty and during the infamous Monkey-Butt scene (I try to be a serious journalist,) I was struck with the cold slap of sartorial envy.
Okay, maybe not envy but definite recognition. The Gangsta friend was wearing a torn denim waistcoat and high-waisted trousers similar to not only Christopher Kane’s show of last season but to the Gisele editorial of V54.
Check the image and appreciate how unbelievably on trend this man is!

As part of Google Mail, you are constantly bombarded with adverts for whatever your e-mails are about. For me, that is largely fashion and therefore, I receive links to sites such as 80sTees.com. This online store proved to be pretty good; I wasted about half and hour going through the memorabilia.
See after the jump for my top picks-including a Karate Kid t-shirt, awesome NEW YORK MTV t-shirt and an incredible Freddy Krueger jumper (who cares if it’s not entirely wearable-it’s a “deluxe replica”!)

Now, I’m not really a jewellery kind of guy and apart from my vintage Omega watch and ragged friendship bracelets I really don’t indulge in the decoration of my exterior.
However, I do quite like this signet ring from Topman and the mixture of edgy ‘blue metal’ and classic signet ring is undoubtedly cool. It would require little other jewellery but would work perfectly with silver pieces such as necklaces and mangles (that’s bangles for those less acquainted with strange fashion-lingo.)

For those of you who haven’t watched Amy Winehouse’s performance at Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday, she does this thing where she pulls on her skirt while she sings. She looks to me a victim of ‘Summer Spirit.’
You know what I mean- when all you want to wear are your swimshorts and the thought of a buttoned up shirt and trousers makes you itch. Don’t worry Amy, I have found the answer to this shared problem and it comes in the form of Dries Van Noten’s transparent shirt. Seen in his current SS09 show, this shirt is striped and looks to be made of a silk-like material. It looks cool (in both the urban dictionary and weather sense) and with that white collar and contrast-stripe collar and cuff detail, is a perfect summer piece.

Clothing, Jeans & Trousers, News, Polls

What a surreal start to the week; trawling Topman for a Monday Morning boost, I was hoping for a few print t-shirts but instead discovered the horror of the new ‘Premium High Waist Slim Jeans.‘ Yes, that’s right; after drop-crotch and MC Hammer (I don’t actually want to touch this) denim, we are being given the chance to try out the latest jean trend. The high waist has failed to get women on side à la skinny jeans simply because they are impossible to wear. In indigo, 100% cotton and selling for £45, I am left wondering if it is really worth the risk. What do you think?
See our poll after the jump!

You can probably tell from this poor man’s expression that when I approached him to take a picture he thought I was taking the piss, but his highly shined loafers caught my eye like a silver spoon to a magpie. Added kudos goes to his pressed cords and Fred Perry bomber, it’s a mod(-ish purists!) look without the museum-y feel.

Jeans & Trousers

Although we do enjoy talking about short shorts, there are alternatives. If you, like 99.9% of the population, hate ¾ shorts but don’t want shorts that can be overlapped by your boxers, then these Topman
tailored shorts could be the answer.
Now that the temperature is finally picking up, it may be time to start showing off your knees (although you should do some calf raises before hand, just for appearance sake). Topman’s tailored shorts sit slightly above the knee and are a happy medium for those who just want to dip their toes in the whole shorts trend. Being Topman, the price is an affordable £30.

Accessories, Designer Spotlight
By Will Reid on March 27th, 2008
There is so much style to wade through after show season that we’re all wasting our free-time on style.com. While looking at the detail shots of the site’s Bottega Veneta coverage, I spotted this interesting neck detail on a few of the models. There is the embarrassing chance that a few of the models simply weren’t able to put on a tie (forgive the bitchiness but you know the type) however if that were the case I would still be praising the DIY fashion brilliance.
The collection itself was aimed to provide a male uniform and the collection was very straight-laced, but this detail added a great edge. I think this may be something I try out myself as it completely elevates the look. Safety pin ties- what a brilliant idea and unexpected cause of sartorial envy.

According to Drapers purple is set to make a lasting impression on menswear wardrobes this autumn but I’m not convinced. Steve Cochrane, managing director of independent department store
Psyche in Middlesbrough, said: "Purple is already a big colour and is
going to get bigger. Lilac is popular now, but it’s going to be full-on
purple for autumn." Shades from lavender to plum have proved pretty
popular with buyers but they’ve shied away from block colours opting
instead for stripes or checks.
There are lots of hot colours around at the moment, -brights like coral and sky blue and neutral shades of beige, grey and taupe are still looking fresh, but purple seems to be a bit of a faddy shade. Trend colours are always a bit hit and miss and can sometimes be a bit of an obvious fashion choice. Having said that Uniqlo have a merino wool cardigan on offer in a pretty subtle aubergine colour which I could go for. Are you a purple fan? Take our poll!
