The opening scene’s of Lakai’s “Fully Flared” skate video are about the best 5 minutes of skate video in existence and arguably one of the best intros of all time. The slow motion operatic explosion-o-thon has now been put to print in the form of a series of t-shirts from Lakai, if you like cool shit on your t-shirts then look no further. No release details as of yet but check out your local skate emporium.
More pics and the video of the first 5 minutes of “Fully Flared” after the jump- check it out because seriously it’s the best 5 minutes you’ll spend today.
Love him or hate him (I hate him if you wanted to know, have I not mentioned before?) but Kanye West is back here on Brandish with a new music video and once again proving that he is a modern Renaissance Man he has directed this latest effort. The video for the song “Good Morning” is animated by influential Japanese artist and animator (obviously) Takashi Murakami and depicts Kanye as the famous bear late for his graduation.
Not only is ex-Ladyfuzz Ben Esser‘s latest release the most unbelievably catchy song you’ll hear this side of summer but the video for ‘Headlock’ is as we say in fashion parlance ‘bang on trend’. The early ’80s look has been bubbling under for a good while now and it sort of crystallised with the release of Shane Meadows’ ‘This is England’. Loafers are a must, and although I’d say Esser’s turn-ups are a little off he has the rudeboy look down pat. Back to the music, Headlock was released this week and is available on free download from Esser’s MySpace.
I found this video on Youtube and couldn’t resist putting it on Brandish. Two minutes of innocent people trying to fit through weirdly-shaped gaps in screens of foam, only to be thrown into a pool of water.
And for fashion’s sake, who could ignore those silver jumpsuits? Hilarious!
Thom Browne’s signature look of shrunken suit, sports socks and loafers has cemented him as a style icon for both sexes and his shows have even inspired my own trend reports. Now, Style.com has talked to him about his exercise regime (although running daily on tracks including Central Park, the Eiffel Tower and the Imperial Gardens of Japan are a luxury rather inaccessible to us hoi polloi.) But I really must warn you that the vid may leave you feeling slightly inferior- after all how many of us can claim to have completed 15 marathons worldwide and still be running in Thom Browne knitwear?
