My-Wardrobe recently launched their men’s section, joining the ranks of online retailers making tracks in menswear. We had a chat with one half of their buying team, Lee Douros, about the launch.
We’re really happy with all of the labels that have come on board for the SS09 season – they were all our top picks! One of must-haves are APC, the masters of Parisian understated cool, whose clothes will be sticking around in your wardrobe for seasons to come. On the high-end side, no-one can top Vivienne Westwood for pieces with an interesting quirk, like shirts with a high, three button collar or “drunk” trenchcoats (pictured, left) that have an undulating, twisted front.

DNR reports today that Marc Jacobs International has signed a contract with Staff International (a part of Diesel founder Renzo Rosso’s fashion empire) that will see Marc by Marc Jacobs Menswear expand over the next five years. Already in Rosso’s couture stable are Dsquared2, Viktor & Rolf, Maison Martin Margiela and Vivienne Westwood.
The contract means that Staff International will have exclusive rights to the production and distribution of the Marc Jacobs menswear line but, with Rosso’s history of major successes, I think this can only be a good move for both parties.

Mark Ronson has always been a tiptop fashion star and this year has been awash with his sartorial influence. From the stripes and Mod look of early 2008 to the sharp tailoring in kooky fabrics. From the ’50s rock-star (read: Elvis) to the fur-clad aristo-geek.
Now, Ronson is taking it upon himself to lead the way with the trapper-hat wearer, ‘Lightspeed Champion,’ look as first established by our (soon to depart-) Jason Dike. Mark looked great at Vivienne Westwood’s after-show party last night with his fur-lined coat, oversized glasses and slick boots.

As if there weren’t enough twists and turns in the fake punk clothing story already, now Malcolm McLaren has accused his own son, Agent Provocateur founder Joe Corre, of selling fakes of his old clothing line.
McLaren states that “I think my son actually used – maybe – the original labels, because we didn’t use them all up, there’d be a roll of ribbon around in the workroom and maybe my son got a hold of those. I think he did this before he set up Agent Provocateur. Or in order to set up Agent Provocateur and fund it, he made a number of these fake clothes and sold them to dealers in Japan.”
Joe Corre doesn’t deny that he made some Punk clothing to sell to dealers in Japan, but states that he did this with his mum, Vivienne Westwood and that none of these were fakes. He also said his dad “should be doing something else. I don’t know what he’s bothered about. Nobody else is”. Strip away the jobs and money and you have a family more than ready for the Jeremy Kyle show.

One of my own punk-inspired ‘sets’ combines Dries Van Noten trousers, a Uniqlo t-shirt, an image of inspiration and a black crayon with Vans for some high fashion-DIY.
Polyvore has long been the talk of fashionistas and our sister site, Catwalk Queen, runs a ‘Style This’ competition based completely around the image-making tool. Whether it’s a Vivienne Westwood tie or a Topman ring, styling outfits has never been easier! Granted, we men have it a bit harder in terms of finding a wide variety of items but just search for ‘man bag’ and you have a good page of man-bags.
And best/worst of all? After you’ve styled your outfits you can even buy everything you’ve included in your image.
Look out for more Brandish outfits or watch the Polyvore tutorials and send your own to isabelle [at] shinymedia.com!

In London? Still have money in your account? In you answered yes to both these questions, then you have no reason to miss out on this DWS Menswear sample sale. If you’ve forgiven Evisu for flooding the market back in the late 90′s then you can pick up some of their items alongside Vivienne Westwood, Hardy Amies and Hugo Boss amongst others. If there’s a better reason to go on a pasta diet for the rest of the month, feel free to let me know.
