The latest issue of VMAN was released a few days ago and it has two, bright covers. Models Jake Madden and CJ Hancock pose in fab suits from designers Calvin Klein and Givenchy and the covers are brilliantly fresh- perfect for the economic moan-athon we are currently suffering!
CJ and Jake are the joint winners of the VMAN and Ford Model Search and from these debut covers it looks like they will go far.

Condé Nast’s fifth Fashion Rocks event was hardly devoid of well-dressed men: Valentino, Justin Timberlake (who’s fashion-savvy has become a matter of debate…well, for me anyway,) Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford (who’s rumoured to have scored an up-coming VMAN cover.) My point is that, for a menswear designer, Michael Bastian more than held his own in this pantheon of celebs.
I love his vintage-looking blazer as well as his loafers and with an open shirt and a pair of well-tailored grey shorts, he is a vision of relaxed but high-fashion cool.
Notice the subtle pocket-square (an emblem of any well-dressed male) and devour this style inspiration.

Seeing as Mr. West is an established favourite here at Brandish, we feel it only fair to link to a sneak preview of his Pastelle line. As until now pictures of Pastelle clothing have been a rare joy and although the line is due out in November, this doesn’t look set to change. If Vman went through a load of hassle to get the pictures – the tagline reads ‘if only you knew what we went through to get these pictures’ – what hope is there for the rest of us?
The clothes themselves are wearable, if a little unremarkable, but I’ll assume that given the probable high price point they’ll be made using impeccable tailoring and materials. See the rest of the pictures after the jump.

VMAN has just released a preview of their next issue (VMAN 11) and by the looks of this preview editorial, ‘Suit Yourself,’ it is going to be incredible. Reflecting V Magazine’s ‘The Women’ editorial, which took rich photography and a classic country manor to project an image of high-society living, this editorial tells a nostalgic story of traditional tailoring with almost grainy photography used to stunning effects.
The photographic wizard at hand is none other than David Sherry and the story is styled by Jay Massacret. VMAN introduces the editorial with “this year’s fall suits combine elegant fine tailoring, clean lines, and a whiff of smoky nostalgia.” A perfect introduction to a perfect editorial.

In a 3-week diary for The Independent, Mario Testino has revealed all on life as one of fashion’s big players. But catching our attention is the news that Mario was in New York on the 18th of June to shoot Gossip Girl‘s Chase Crawford for VMAN’s next issue.
As a forward and delightfully stylish mag for in-the-know sartorialists, VMAN is always one to watch and Brandish has previously reported on its great use of graphics and imagery in different editorials.
Testino reports that he shot “a young actor called Chase Crawford – he’s, like, the heartthrob of the moment. It’s much more unusual for me to photograph guys. I find women are more exciting because you can play with the fashion. With men, there are more restrictions.”

About a month ago, I posted on an accessories editorial that had used graphics and colour to present a Manga-style perspective of this season’s it-items. Well now, that same issue of one of menswear’s most fashion-forward magazines has been released and Ashton Kutcher is on its cover. Fake arms, wires, polished warriors- everything gleams with the shine of modernity. Ashton poses with a synthetic arm and his accompanying editorial, entitled ‘I’m Not Real,’ is fun and fast as well as overly-futuristic.

The next issue of VMAN magazine looks set to make the monthly magazine pile if the following taster is anything to go by. The editorial in question is ‘Boy Toys,’ a story on the latest men’s accessories. It is a feature that mixes trademark V-publication graphic design with great photography by Erwan Frontin for a dynamic and embarrassingly alluring take on this season’s must-haves. I’m not sure whether it is the Transformer-style set design, fluorescent backgrounds or pure robo-brilliance but for some reason this spread draws the reader in and you can’t help thinking how clever the V-team is. I know its clichéd but I can’t think of a more suitable way to sum up this editorial than to say, “Mission accomplished.”
