LOVE Magazine- The Masthead and the Madness!

By Will Reid on December 10th, 2008

Giles Deacon

Fashionista is stating that Katie Grand’s new LOVE magazine (published by Condé Nast,) is a “beacon of hope for the dying magazine industry and its dwindling fashion counterpart.” Well, it may be a beacon of hope for the magazine industry but Grand and her brilliant team have decided to get a head start with a very low-key blog.

The masthead of the magazine was revealed today and a look through the blog revealed such gems as Giles Deacon posing with a pair of Scotch-Egg-Glasses (the ‘it’ accessory of next season?) and fashion editors Francesca Burns and Victoria Young with the likes of Simon Cowelland David Walliams! Who would have guessed that Mark Frith (of Heat and celeb scandal fame,) would be editorial consultant?

Enjoy all the behind-the-scenes pictures as well as the full masthead after the jump!

Ksubi x Kanye sunglasses collection

By admin on May 8th, 2008

It’s rare to see a hip-hop artist so readily accepted by the fashion elite like Kanye West has been. The only other contender is Andre 3000. However, Mr. West is on a level of his own when it comes to designer collaborations. In addition to his Air Yeezys, his clothing label Pastelle also has an upcoming sunglasses collection with Ksubi.

While they look great, they also look pretty similar to the American Apparel sunglasses Isabelle posted yesterday. As the amount of sunglass designs are limited at best, this usually wouldn’t be a problem. But seeing as the AA glasses are going for £30 and Ksubi’s own glasses are retailing at around £100, it’s a bit ridiculous to try and sell these for $2000. If price is no object to you, then you can get these from October.

Julie Verhoeven Tees for Mulberry

By Will Reid on April 13th, 2008

mulberrytee2.JPGJulie Verhoeven, the artist and fashion-collaboration extraordinaire has designed a set of t-shirts with her illustrations of animals and other strange creatures. Vogue UK reports that Verhoeven’s fun and frivolous tees are in-store now for both guys and girls at £50 each. Verhoeven relays that “the artwork for the T-shirts came about by wanting a little bit of loopyness for springtime and letting loose the Mulberry menagerie of daft animals.” I couldn’t agree more- as seen in previous posts, I am also feeling the pressure of season transition and these are a designer-label colour boost. Wear them with jeans for day or with thin cardigans in berry tones and the Uniqlo chinos for a low-key evening look. Verhoeven’s previous collection for Mulberry, a collection of quilted bags covered with her illustrations, were a disappointment for many but these look fresh and colourful enough to top many a Spring wishlist.
In stores now, £50 each, Pig, Bunny and Cat (left) motifs

Woody Allen Sues American Apparel

By Will Reid on April 2nd, 2008

American-Apparel.jpgNow this little snippet of news has honestly made my day. Who would’ve guessed it but according to Vogue UK, Woody Allen is suing American Apparel for $10 million. The magazine reports that Allen “does not engage in the commercial endorsement of products or services in the United States,” and never gave the affordable and fashion-foward label permission to use an image of him dressed as a rabbi (?!) A possible fashion bust-up? At the beginning of a rather dreary month, I (hate to admit it but) hope so.
