Topman has revealed their latest ‘trend’ (read: mini theme-based collection) and with a name like ‘Berlin Wall,’ I was expecting rough skinny jeans and a fusion of This Is England skin-head with a kind-of Soviet, military cool. As always, the high-street label has delivered…
This season is proving to be perfect for style-conscious men looking for a new sartorial direction. From Marni to Jil Sander, men are being given a chance to look top notch and whereas some seasons simply leave us to stick to a stereotypical male uniform, A/W 2009 looks to be the return of fashion flamboyance.
The Burberry Prorsum A/W 2009 show has been going down a storm on the Internet with buyers and fashion critics air-kissing in delighted agreement as they plan their wardrobes for seasons to come (guilty as charged.) Apart from the amazing padded jackets and sharp tailoring, one of the things that has most caught my attention is the subtle return of the infamous check print. The beige tartan-esque print has, in recent years, become a taboo of the fashion industry but designer Christopher Bailey appears to have decided that the time has come for a major return.
What do you think- are you ready to show-off the check print? Vote in our poll after the jump!
This season of Celebrity Big Brother (CBB) has been very eventful and a glittering line-up including LaToya Jackson, Verne Troyer and Coolio means that each day is not without a bit of frock horror. Coolio has been catching my attention recently with his various looks. While his personality and jokes are fantastic, I can’t say I am a fan of his headwear or customised (by which I mean studded, embellished and gem-covered) jackets!

Brad Pitt, currently promoting his new film ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,’ has nabbed the cover of this month’s W magazine. Brad stars in a photographic portfolio by Chuck Close and the black-and-white pics are basically Pitt at a few different angles. The covers boasts that this issue is ‘The A-List’ issue with “the superstar, the hottest directors, the coolest producers 7 the glitziest Hollywood memorials.”
See after the jump for the entire set of photos and tell us what you think of Brad’s attempt to be arty over on our Facebook wall.

You know when relatives get Christmas presents that just get under your skin? Well, Hama beads were that present during this holiday season. Whether in my pockets, in my shoes, woven onto my laces, down my skinny jeans (don’t ask!) they were everywhere.
After months of rumours and hipster-praying, Hypebeast has confirmed the rumour that Kanye West is to design a pair of trainers for Louis Vuitton. The trainers appear rather bland (they’re just white high-tops,) but they might prove to be a valuable base for many a winter outift. Kanye tells the online fashion magazine that the trainers are to be released in June of this year.
I wait with bated breath!
Matt Smith, a 26-year old actor and relative unknown, has been made the new Doctor Who and if not for anything else, he will be known as the youngest ever Doctor. Smith has appeared in theatre productions ‘That Face’ and ‘Swimming with Sharks.’ Smith is creating considerable drama with his appointment as The Doctor and my favourite (albeit unreliable) Daily Mail is reporting suspicions of a betting-related scandal.
With his thin frame, gauche mannerisms and androgynous looks, I think we have a potential style idol on our hands. What do you think? Tell us on our Facebook wall.

As we endure the last week of 2008 and look back upon a year of fashion extremes, we still have the sartorial challenge of New Year’s Eve (NYE) ahead of us. While many opt for a loud, proud and (often) garish get-up, I am aiming to attempt a subtle luxury with the help of muted colours but opulent fabrics (velvet, silk, corduroy etc.)…c
Now that I’ve cleared that up, I can proceed with this Christmas Outfit Pick. This polo is a great find and the loud print is definitely eye-catching. I found it in Topman yesterday afternoon and it was reduced to £10 from £16. In the image, the polo looks black but it is actually blue and the print looks slightly bigger (as opposed to the foot-print looking print pictured!)
Grazia recently reported that Henry Holland has 662 friends on Facebook. However, upon closer inspection (and my quest to see if old Henners has uploaded his pic with our Catwalk Queen editor Gemma,) I found that there are two Henry Hollands on Facebook. And neither has 662 friends…
The Guardian released its ‘Best Dressed of 2008’ list last week and along with likes of Carine Roitfeld and Alexa Chung, Henry Conway was featured as a sartorial star. The newspaper reports that “anyone who can steal the limelight from Paris Hilton at her own London party courtesy of a dashing white satin suit is OK by us.”
“Bored of perfectly folded paper and exquisitely tied ribbon? Fancy adding a more ‘personal’ touch this year? Then why not have your Christmas presents CrapWrapped™ at Firebox. This exclusive, uniquely shoddy gift wrapping option involves us wrapping your pressies in a slapdash fashion. “
The Daily Mail reports that Firebox.com is paying “20 of its male forklift truck drivers and warehouse assistants to wrap presents as quickly as possible, using ugly brown duct tape and very little care” for their latest ‘CrapWrap’ service. The service has proved popular with over 500 Firebox customers after only a week of its launch but what do you think?
Is it a bit stereotypical to say that all men are bad at wrapping or do you agree with Geraldine James, buying manager for Christmas gifts at Selfridges, who states that “men are perfectly capable of wrapping presents beautifully. They choose to pretend they can’t so they don’t have to do it.”
Vote ‘Yay or Nay’ to the service after the jump!
Fashionista is stating that Katie Grand’s new LOVE magazine (published by Condé Nast,) is a “beacon of hope for the dying magazine industry and its dwindling fashion counterpart.” Well, it may be a beacon of hope for the magazine industry but Grand and her brilliant team have decided to get a head start with a very low-key blog.
The masthead of the magazine was revealed today and a look through the blog revealed such gems as Giles Deacon posing with a pair of Scotch-Egg-Glasses (the ‘it’ accessory of next season?) and fashion editors Francesca Burns and Victoria Young with the likes of Simon Cowelland David Walliams!
AskMen.com has recently proved to be a good source of interesting and insightful fashion features (at least once you’ve clicked through such literary gems as “Is a 3-some really worth it?” and an “Is Britney actually Hot?” poll.) A look at their Fashion section resulted in me reading a great article by P.A Parfond, the site’s weekly fashion correspondent, entitled “Shaving Tips From Moroccan Street Shavers.”
Nicola Formichetti, the fashion extraordinaire and creative director of Dazed & Confused, writes an awesome blog which he manages to update almost three times a week. With pictures from his various trips, nights out, karaoke parties and Tokyo fashion-fests, the blog is a treasure trove of great images and this is no different. The pic was only put up yesterday morning and it shows some of Nicola’s friends posing on a night out in London.
Men.Style is great for tongue-in-cheek features and their
is not only perfectly-timed but a great read and (just to add some sense of validity to this post,) a good laugh. The feature aims to make you “a legendary host” and the site has got a few of America’s most refined movers ‘n’ shakers on-board to add their two pence to the Christmas-party-nightmare cup.
If you are planning to throw a party and you really hope it lives up to the obviously high-expectations of those who actually enjoy Christmas (which I hope is all Brandish readers!) then you have to read the full run-down of the guide after the jump!
